Events broke out in the Netherlands protests against curfews

In the Netherlands, the measures and curfews applied to combat the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) were protested.

It was stated that the protests have been continuing since Saturday, when the curfews started last week, and 70 people were detained in the protests this evening.

Activists who attacked the police with fireworks and stones in the protest in the south of Rotterdam looted the shops. The police office was attacked with fireworks.

Police intervened the demonstrators with police dogs and water cannons.

Similar incidents took place in the cities of Amsterdam, Haarlem, Geleen, Helmond, Zwolle, Amersfoort, Den Bosch and Tilburg, cars were burned.

As part of the measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, on January 23, a curfew was imposed across the country between 21.00-04.30.

In the events that took place in the city of Urk the same night, the coronavirus test center was set on fire.

On January 24, similar incidents took place in 14 cities, including Amsterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven, and hundreds of people were detained.

The Dutch Police Association said in a statement that there had not been such violent protests in 40 years.
