The state of emergency announced in Spain due to Covid-19 was extended until May 9

In Spain, the state of emergency was extended until May 9 by a parliamentary decision. For the first time in the history of in the country, the state of emergency declared valid for 6 months. 35 thousand 466 people have died in the country due to coronavirus so far.

The Spanish Parliament was informed by the left coalition government as a precaution against high case increases in the new type of coronavirus. The state of emergency extended the declared state of emergency until May 9.

Speaking ahead of the vote, Health Minister Salvador Illa said, “Time is not the time to ease the measures. We have much more difficult months ahead.”

“A state of emergency is necessary because we are faced with a very worrying situation.”
