Supreme court paves the way for executions in the USA

In the USA, the Supreme Court paved the way for the executions of the first federal prisoners after a 17-year break.

In the unsigned opinion of the Supreme Court, where conservatives are the majority, “executions can be done as planned”, it was stated. While 5 judges of the court voted in this direction, the number of opposition judges remained at 4.

Washington DC District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan ordered the Ministry of Justice to postpone the execution of 4 federal prisoners yesterday.

Chutkan emphasized that this method to be used in the execution of prisoners by using the expression “Scientific data in our court shows that the execution with a poison needle will lead to excessive pain and unnecessary suffering on the accused,” contradicts the 8th article of the US constitution, which prohibits the banning of “cruel and unusual punishment”. .

The U.S. Department of Justice appealed to appeal against Chutkan’s decision.

With a decision issued last year in the United States, the execution of the death penalty was opened for the first time since 2003, and it was noted that the first death sentence was Daniel Lewis Lee, who murdered a family of three, including an 8-year-old child, in Arkansas.

Lee was planned to be executed on 13 July and 3 other prisoners until 28 August.
