Sex worker wins sexual harassment case in New Zealand

A sex worker won a sexual harassment case in New Zealand. The business owner who harassed the unnamed worker will pay 6-digit compensation. The result of a case that could set an example to the whole world was announced in New Zealand.

In the incident, which was on the agenda in the country, a sex worker was found right by the court in the lawsuit she filed with the allegation of sexual harassment.

The court ruled that sexual harassment of sex workers in the environment where they work a violation of human rights.

The female sex worker, whose name was not disclosed, was ordered to pay 6-digit compensation by her business owner. In other words, the worker will be compensated a minimum of 100 thousand New Zealand dollars.

It was stated that the worker was “emotionally damaged” and “lost income”. The decision is considered as a milestone in terms of worker rights of sex workers in the country.

In the statement made by the Human Rights Office of the New Zealand state, “All workers, regardless of their job, have the right not to be sexually harassed in their workplaces”
