Japan reaches Covid-19 vaccine agreement with US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer

Japanese and US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has agreed to supply a new type of corona virus (Covid-19) vaccine. If Pfizer manages to develop the vaccine, it will provide 120 million doses to Japan by the end of June of 2021.

While many vaccine development studies for the new type of corona virus (Covid-19), which have not yet been resolved, continue at different stages, a critical step for the future has come from Japan.

Japanese Health Minister Katsunobu Kato announced that an agreement has been reached with the US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer on the supply of the Covid-19 vaccine.

According to the agreement, Pfizer will provide Japan with a dose of 120 million doses by the end of June 2021, if successful in vaccine development efforts. 60 million people will benefit from the vaccine, which should be applied twice to one person.

Stating that the government will speed up the negotiations to sign a final contract with Pfizer, Minister Kato did not disclose how much to pay for the vaccine supply.

Stating that negotiations with other companies will continue, Kato underlined that they aim to ensure that the Japanese people have access to the safe and effective vaccine as soon as possible.

EXPLANATION FROM THE COMPANY

In a statement made by Pfizer, it is stated that he is proud to support Japan, who is determined to bring the world together at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, “Our hope is that our potential vaccine contributes to this.”
