Cinemas are opening in China

Cinemas will open in low-risk areas of China starting July 20.

Cinemas, which were closed on January 25 due to the Covid-19 epidemic in China, opened shutters again with a growing number of cases after opening a small part in March, are gradually opening.

According to the announcement by the Chinese Cinema Association (CFA), cinemas will be open from July 20 in low-risk areas of the country. It is not yet clear when cinemas will open in medium and high risk areas.

In China, where thousands of cinema enterprises have terminated their activities for almost six months because of their closedness, a guideline including measures for reopening cinemas has also been published.

According to the guideline, in the scenario where the risk situation of low-risk areas where cinemas are opened increases to medium or high levels, cinemas in this region will be closed again immediately. In cinemas to be reopened, 30% of the maximum capacity will be able to take its place in the audience.
