Boris Johnson: Covid-19 type seen in England could be more deadly

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated that the new type of Coronavirus (Covid-19) seen in the country may be more deadly.

Breaking news! “There is some evidence that the new species may be linked to a higher mortality rate,” Johnson told the press conference at Prime Minister’s Office Number 10.

The Government’s Chief Science Advisor, Patrick Vallance, stated that there are currently 3 different Covid-19 species seen in England, South Africa and Brazil.

Noting that the species detected in England is 30-70 percent easier to transmit than others, Vallance said that the more positive cases this species is seen, proves this.

Pointing out that the data are not strong enough yet, Vallance emphasized that 10 out of 1000 people infected with the original species are expected to die, but this number has increased to 13 or 14 in the new species.

The new strains are “definitely more alarming” and have “features that could mean they are less susceptible to vaccines,” Vallance said, but nothing can be said for certain at this stage.

1401 PEOPLE DIE IN THE LAST 24 HOURS

Meanwhile, according to the statement of the Ministry of Health, with the death of 1401 more people in the last 24 hours, the number of casualties from Covid-19 increased to 95 thousand 981.

In England, the country with the highest number of deaths due to the virus in Europe, quarantine was re-quarantined on January 5, after the new species raised the cases.
