Peruvian President Vizcarra suspended from his post

In Peru, the South American country, Congress dismissed President Martin Vizcarra from his post.

According to the news reflected in the national media, Vizcarra was dismissed from his post with 105 votes in favor, 19 against and 4 abstention in the voting held at the Peruvian Congress.

Vizcarra was accused of lying about the corruption allegations and in doing so obstructing justice.

Since Vizcarra has no deputy, Senate Speaker Manuel Merino will assume the post of president and will hold it until 28 July 2021. The Peruvian Congress was reported to have initiated the process of dismissing Vizcarra on 3 November, on the grounds of “obstructing justice,” and the decision was approved by 60 “yes” votes against 40 “no” votes.

In Peru, former President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski also resigned in 2018 after his dismissal.
