Mayim Bialik: I joined for the Big Bang Theory health insurance

Mayim Bialik, who played the character of Amy in the famous comedy series The Big Bang Theory, announced that she attended the auditions of the series only to have health insurance.

Mayim Bialik admitted that she had the idea that Screen Actors Guild could offer her health insurance before auditioning for The Big Bang Theory, which aired on CBS for 12 seasons.

In a new interview with NME, the 45-year-old used the following statements:

“I’m sure all of you in the north can understand that my health insurance is exhausted, because health insurance does not count as a human right in this country. I had a toddler and a newborn baby at that time, I was a graduate student and my insurance expired.”

“I thought that if I could get several jobs here or elsewhere, I could get insurance again. I didn’t expect to be a regular actor of a television series. I was teaching neuroscience. I was teaching Hebrew. I was teaching piano. I was doing many different things at the same time.”

Bialik later auditioned for The Big Bang Theory and said that her life changed and she added: Finally, I auditioned for The Big Bang Theory, which I had never seen before, and my life changed and I got insurance.
