A mass grave with an estimated 5,000 victims of genocide was found in eastern Rwanda. Local official Richard Gasana told reporters. He stated that a mass grave was found in the Gatsibo area where people were killed on the orders of former Murambi Governor Jean Baptiste Gatete.

He stated that their graves are about 30 meters deep and excavations are expected to take 3 weeks. People who took refuge in Kiziguro Catholic Church were killed.

More than 800 thousand Tutsi were killed in the 100-day massacre in the country.
