How MARAAZ Currency Converter Works
Transparent, accurate and free. Here is exactly how we source and display exchange rates.
Live Rate Fetching
Every hour, our system fetches mid-market exchange rates from three independent sources: the European Central Bank (ECB) daily reference rates, the Open Exchange Rates free API, and Frankfurter.app. We prioritize official central bank data.
Rate Calculation
We use the mid-market rate — the midpoint between buy and sell rates used by banks and financial institutions. This is the fairest reference rate, the same one used by Google, Reuters and Bloomberg.
No Markup, No Hidden Fees
We display the pure mid-market rate with no markup added. When you see 1 USD = 0.854 EUR, that is exactly the rate — not inflated to make a profit. We are a free tool, not a money transfer service.
Smart Caching
Rates are cached for 1 hour to ensure fast page loads. If our live data sources are temporarily unavailable, we fall back to our last known rates automatically, so you always see a rate — never an error.
Historical Data
For historical rates, we query the Frankfurter API which serves official ECB data going back to 1999. Cross-rates are calculated via the EUR base to ensure mathematical consistency.
Auto-Refresh
The converter auto-refreshes rates every 5 minutes if the page stays open, so you always see current data without needing to reload.
