The US Senate gave approval to the former US Federal Reserve (FED) President Janet Yellen, who was nominated by President Joe Biden for Treasury Secretary. Janet Yellen became the US Treasury Secretary.
In the voting held in the Senate General Assembly, 84 senators voted “yes” for Yellen to become Minister of the Treasury, while 15 senators voted “no”.
Thus, Yellen became the first woman in US history to hold the post of Treasury Department.
Yellen also received approval from the US Senate Finance Committee on Friday.
Yellen will be accompanied by Didem Nisanci, who is of as a special secretary in the Ministry of Treasury.
It was stated that the proposal for the said post was presented to Nisanci, who is the manager of the public policy department at Bloomberg LP, and that Nisanci accepted the task.
WHO IS DIDEM NISANCI?
Didem Nisanci was born on March 9, 1973. She studied Economics in the USA between 1991-1995.
Didem Nisanci previously worked as a special line manager at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under former US President Barack Obama and worked for the Promontory Financial Group before moving to Bloomberg in 2018.
She also served on the banking committee of the US Senate and worked at the Treasury Department between 1998-2001.
