Messi, who scored the 644th goal with the Barcelona jersey, became the new holder of the “player who scored the most goals with the same club”, which belongs to the world-famous former football player Pele.
Pele scored 643 goals in 656 matches in Brazil’s Santos team, which he played for between 1957 and 1974.
Breaking this record 46 years later and playing in Barcelona for 17 seasons, Messi sent his 644th goal in the 748th match. Pele had sent a congratulatory message to Messi, who shared this record on December 19th.
