Thousands of people attended the show organized by the group known as “Black Flags” in front of the Prime Ministry residence in West Jerusalem.
While demonstrators were opening banners with the words “crime prime minister” and “no dictatorship”, they often shouted slogans calling on the Israeli Prime Minister to resign.
Some protesters were seen wearing T-shirts with pictures that compared Netanyahu to the new type of corona virus (Covid-19).
There was a rift between the demonstrators and the police trying to overcome the barricades put by the security forces.
In the following hours, the events spread to the streets of the city.
Demonstrators set up roadblocks, lit a fire. The police intervened the demonstrators with water cannons.
50 demonstrators were taken into custody. According to the Israel media, 1 police officer was injured in the incidents.
A small number of Netanyahu supporters also organized a support demonstration near the Prime Ministry residence.
Due to the increasing unemployment and corruption cases in Israel after the Covid-19 outbreak, the increase in anti-Netanyahu demonstrations is remarkable.
Thousands of people also attended the demonstration held in Tel Aviv on July 11, on the grounds that the Netanyahu government did not provide sufficient assistance to sectors affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
Israeli police intervened against Netanyahu opponents who had held a demonstration in front of the Prime Ministry residence for more than 35 days yesterday morning, and lowered the banners while removing the tents of the demonstrators.
Six people were injured in the brawl between demonstrators and police.
