In their study, Professor Roberts and colleagues treated 30 trauma patients with bleeding admitted to hospitals based in London.

The first dose of tranexamic acid was given to each patient intravenously. However, the second one was administered by intramuscular injection.

The team found that the drug quickly entered the patients’ bloodstream from the muscles, reaching the required level in under 15 minutes in all cases.

Explained that there were no local side effects other than some redness and swelling.
