Lionel Messi breaks Pele’s record

Lionel Messi broke one of football legend Pele’s most important records. The Argentine superstar is now the sole owner of the title “player with the most goals with the same club”. Lionel Messi continues to write history.

The Argentine super star broke Brazilian football legend Pele’s record of 643 goals.

Messi scored his 644th goal for Vallodolid with Barcelona and became the new holder of the “most goals scored with the same club” record.

“When I started playing football, I never thought I would break a record. Moreover, I caught Pele’s record. Thanks to my teammates who have been with me for years, my family and everyone who supported me.”

Newspapers close to Barcelona also appeared before their readers with the headlines of “Messi legend”.

Messi reached his 644th goal in Barcelona in 748 games in 17 seasons.

Pele scored 643 goals in 656 matches in Brazil’s Santos team, which he played for between 1957 and 1974.

Messi became a partner in this record on December 19, Pele sent him a congratulatory message.
