Jeanette Epps becomes first black woman to live on the International Space Station

NASA astronaut Jeanette Epps, scheduled to be sent to the International Space Station (ISS) but dismissed. She will become the first black female astronaut to live and work on the International Space Station (ISS) for a long time.

NASA announced that her astronaut Jeanette Epps has joined the crew of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner spacecraft this week.

The space agency said Epps will live in the ISS for 6 months with astronauts Sunita Williams and Josh Cassada.

Epps, on the other hand, in the video released after NASA’s announcement;

“They’re both great people to work with, so I’m looking forward to the assignment.”

Epps will become the first black female astronaut to live and work on the International Space Station (ISS) for a first time.

Who is Jeanette Epps?

Epps graduated from LeMoyne College with a bachelor’s degree in physics. She holds a master’s in science and a doctorate in aviation engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. She worked as a technical intelligence officer for the CIA for seven years before being elected to the astronaut class in 2009. In 1992, astronaut Mae Jemison became the first black woman in space.
