Google’s internet bubble broke a record

Google’s sister company Loon broke a record with its internet bubble project.

It is part of Google’s roof company Alphabet. Loon’s internet bubble broke the record by staying in the stratosphere for 312 days.

The balloon codenamed HBAL703, which served for 312 days, toured the Southern Hemisphere during this time. Loon’s balloon used in the previous experiment remained in the air for 223 days.

Loon balloons tested in Puerto Rico, hit by Hurricane Maria in 2017, and provided internet access to 100,000 people. Internet balloons have started providing 4G internet service to thousands of people living in rural Kenya in recent months.
