Giant goldfish caught in the US

A team conducting electric fishing experiments in a pond in the USA caught a giant goldfish. Weight of goldfish caught during underwater operations. Twice the size of the fish that previously entered the Guinness book of records.

Working on the lake in the US state of South Carolina, the team caught a larger goldfish than the Guinness book of records. Caught by Greenville County officials during “electric fishing” trials in Oak Grove Lake. Goldfish weighs 9 pounds, or about 4.08 kilograms.

It stated that the fish caught during the study conducted to investigate the underwater population were stunned during hunting but were not harmed.

Ty Houck, a Greenville County official, stated that the goldfish was seen for the first time in South Carolina lakes. National Geographic notes that the size of goldfish “is often limited by the size of aquariums.”

National Geographic said only that this giant goldfish could have grown in a nutrient-rich 48,000-square-meter pond.

“We think someone might have left this goldfish in this pond, not in the toilet,” Houck said.

In the Guinness book of records, the largest goldfish ever recorded weighs 2 kilograms and is 47 centimeters tall.
