Germany: a tough test for pandemic immigrants

The German Government’s Integration Officer mentioned that the pandemic process for migrants and refugees is an economically difficult process.

Widmann-Mauz “Often they work in retail, logistics, or hotel or restaurant businesses where the economic consequences of the pandemic are particularly felt. In addition, most programs that are important for adaptation are either very limited or cannot be realized at all due to the pandemic. ”

Widmann-Mauz said that the adaptation process should not be interrupted despite the corona, and talked about the “digital move” that was included in the National Harmonization Plan.

The digital move includes consultancy units to create digital training courses, language support and social network support, especially for early-career women to be more easily involved in the job market. This program also includes digital support for the management of individual compliance processes.

The 12th integration summits organized by the government is held in Germany today. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet today with representatives of around 40 migrant associations to discuss the impact of the corona pandemic on adaptation.
