Free Trade Agreement signed between Japan and England

Japan and Britain signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Visiting the capital Tokyo, British International Trade Minister Liz Truss met with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. At the meeting, which agreed in September and will take effect from 1 January. Mutual Free Trade Agreement signed.

Truss at the joint press conference held later. “(The deal) opens the Pacific gates to British business and sets the stage for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).”

Motegi said, “Japan welcomes the UK’s interest in TPP and will continue to provide the necessary support in this regard.”

The FTA will come into effect at the beginning of next year, after local procedures.

The first negotiation on the agreement made in June, and the details of the agreement clarified in August, and it agreed in the video conference held in September.

The Free Trade Agreement was recorded as Britain’s first trade agreement, which will complete the process of leaving the European Union at the beginning of 2021.
