Fan expectation out of hope in Premier League

Countries are expanding the measures taken due to the coronavirus cases that continue to increase worldwide. For the second time in England, which took new steps in this direction, a nationwide quarantine was declared.

The expectation of a match with the audience in the English Premier League was once again shelved. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that they have made a 4-week quarantine decision as of Thursday, November 5th.

The Premier League and other elite sports will continue behind closed doors. Johnson replied “yes for the Premier League” when asked about whether football will continue.

During the first national quarantine period in the Premier League, the matches were stopped in March and started again in June without spectators.

Stating that hospitals in some regions are in danger of filling their capacities within weeks, Johnson said, “The loss of life will be high and health professionals will have to decide who will die and who will live.”

Within the scope of quarantine, all retail stores will be closed, except markets and pharmacies where basic products are sold. Bars and restaurants will only offer takeaway. Unlike the first quarantine in March, schools and universities will remain open.

People will only be allowed to leave their homes for specific reasons such as education, work, food shopping and exercise. Different household members will not be able to come together.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Health, with 21 thousand 915 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases increased to 1 million 11 thousand 660. Loss of life increased by 326 to 46,555.
