Denmark announces additional measures due to high increase in Covid-19 cases

In Denmark, where the daily highest number of cases announced with 859 people in the last 24 hours in the new type of Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the government announced additional measures.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen holding a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office. Emphasizing that the danger of Covid-19 has not yet passed, she asked the inhabitants of the country to restrict entertainment and socialization.

Frederiksen said that within the scope of additional measures, the use of masks in shopping malls, educational institutions and similar closed public places is obligatory, and the sale of alcohol is prohibited after 22:00.

Frederiksen, who assured that he would work to bring Denmark out of the crisis in the best way, announced that it was forbidden for individuals to gather in crowded groups of more than 10 people, except for their immediate surroundings, in public spaces as well as in private properties.

Health Minister Magnus Heunicke also said that with the rising number of cases, the number of Covid-19 patients treated in hospitals will increase rapidly and the 405 bed capacity allocated for Covid-19 treatment across the country will be increased by 300 more.

State Serum Institute Director Kaare Mölbak emphasized that 95 percent of deaths with Covid-19 symptoms in Denmark are not people with chronic diseases, and emphasized that the pandemic should not be taken lightly. In Denmark, additional measures will take effect on October 26, and the rule on wearing masks in closed spaces will take effect on October 29. The rule for gathering up to 10 people will be valid for 4 weeks, while the other rules will be valid until January 2, 2021.

As the second wave measures in Covid-19, the use of masks in restaurants and public transport was mandatory in the country last month. Restaurants were only allowed to deliver takeaway after 22:00.

According to the latest figures announced in the country, 2 million 723 thousand 93 people were tested for Covid-19. Covid-19 was detected in 859 people in the last 24 hours, and in total 38 thousand 622 people.

31 thousand 295 people diagnosed with Covid-19 survived the disease, and 697 people died in the pandemic.
