Born male with female genitals, now pregnant

Born with a male genitalia, Mikey Chanel learned ‘by chance’ on a routine check that she had ovaries, uterus and uterine tubes and is now pregnant. Born with the rare syndrome called PMDS, Chanel will work for people to understand and normalize this situation for the next part of her life.

The life of a young man named Mikey Chanel, who was born with a male genitalia, changed when he learned that he had ovaries, uterus, uterus and uterine tubes under a routine doctor’s control.

Chanel, now 18, was born to a man. He was a boy like in the photo but he always felt different from his other boyfriends. Speaking to the Mirror newspaper, Chanel said that the tests performed while the fetus were in the womb revealed that she was a girl, while she surprised her family and doctors when she was born with a male genitalia.

“I was different from the beginning,” says Chanel, who lives in Boston, USA. When I was five, I used to play with my aunt’s bags and wear my mother’s lipstick. I have never felt like a man. “I was quite feminine and never went through a full ‘male adolescence’ period,” she said.

Saying that she has very little hair on her face, Chanel said, “I have always had a feminine body shape where my hips are prominent.”

Saying that she was bullied throughout her school life because of her appearance, Chanel discovered that she was gay when she was 13. The event that changed his life took place last year under routine doctor control. Realizing that he felt a strange sensation after urinating, Chanel was examined and the doctor who wanted to examine the urinary tract performed an ultrasound. Ultrasound imaging revealed Chanel’s uterus, ovaries, cervix and uterine tubes. The doctor told Chanel that she could get pregnant if she wanted.

Chanel said of her shock, “I thought it was a joke. I never knew such a thing was possible. “Where are the cameras?” I laughed. But then the doctor showed me the ultrasound image, ”he said. Chanel was diagnosed with Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome-PMDS. In this very rare case, the person has the female reproductive internal organs, but the male genital organ outside.

Doctors immediately suggested a hysterectomy for Chanel. He explained that he had to have his uterus surgically removed, because in the case of PMDS, the risk of cancer and tumors was high, and the risks could be reduced by removing the uterus.

“My male side was infertile, but I was told that my ovaries were still functioning,” says Chanel. Then I realized that if I do not carry the baby myself, I cannot have children ”.

“I always wanted to have a child. When I was little I used to play with babies and see my future children. So I decided to get pregnant by saying ‘now or never’, ”said Chanel, who received a series of reproductive treatments. * She got pregnant with microinjection method. Three fertilized embryos were placed in Chanel’s fallopian tube through the abdominal cavity, as it lacked a vaginal opening.

Now four months pregnant, Chanel says, “I was told it would work 20 percent, but it happened. I was shocked but happy. I can’t wait to be a parent. My parents weren’t with me much when I was a kid, so I want to be a parent like they couldn’t. “I want to be with my child whenever he needs it.”

“I have never felt more female,” said Chanel, who is taking estrogen supplements to help with pregnancy and hopes to continue the gender transition after the baby is born.

Chanel wants to raise awareness about the condition of PMDS by conveying her experience in her future life, and help people understand that it is a medical condition.

In this reproduction method, the sperm is not added to the eggs in the petri dish after the egg collection (puncture) as in the classical IVF method, but under the microscope, the sperm is injected directly into the egg using a very thin glass needle. This method can be applied to all mature eggs obtained.
