10 people died as a result of the capsizing of the boat carrying passengers in Lagos, Nigeria.

Lagos Police Spokesperson Bala Elkana said in a statement that the boat carrying passengers at Lake Badagry on the Victoria Island capsized due to a malfunction in the engine.

Elkana noted that 10 people died in the accident and 5 people were saved.

Stating that 3 people were missing in the accident, Elkana said that search and rescue efforts are continuing.

In the rainy season in Nigeria, boat disasters are experienced from time to time in the rivers.
