Britney Spears sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, highlighted the annoyance of the silent operation of electric cars and accused Elon Musk’s Tesla of being the secret cat killer.

Jamie Lynn Spears, a singer and actress like her older sister Britney, posted a video on Instagram, labeling Elon Musk’s electric car company Tesla as the secret cat killer:

“I don’t want to say how many there are, but we lost so many cats … Because they don’t hear Tesla’s crank, and unfortunately it happens. This is devastating and tragic for everyone. Elon Musk, let’s figure it out! You owe me a pair of cats.”

Jamie Lynn Spears also offered Musk a solution: Teslas making sounds that would disturb animals. “That way they don’t get caught off guard and things don’t end so tragically,” Sister Spears said.

As stated by the 29-year-old American who later deleted the video she published, electric cars are much quieter than their gasoline-powered counterparts.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has set the rule that electric cars such as Tesla should make a sound of at least 43 decibels when traveling slower than 30 kilometers per hour. This sound is equivalent to what comes out of an average dishwasher.

NHTSA used the statement, “This way, the visually impaired and other pedestrians can notice the hybrid and electric cars around.” The European Union also imposed an acoustic sound system requirement on these cars for similar reasons in July 2019.
