Bank of England doesn’t know where £ 50 billion is

The Bank of England, considered one of the ‘safest’ financial institutions in the world, lost the ‘track’ of £ 50 billion.

The Bank of England, famous for its 2.5 meter thick walls and strong security measures in front of its vaults. Accused by the Public Finance Commission of the House of Commons, one of the authoritative mixed commissions of the British parliament, of losing traces of the £ 50 billion bills and not worrying about it.

The bank, on the other hand, was content with saying that bankcots ‘cannot be considered lost’.

The Commission asked the Central Bank where the £ 50bn was, and said that if the £ 5 bill was stacked on top of each other, its height would reach 1300 kilometers.

The commission also stated that it concluded that the money was “steaming” because the Central Bank did not adequately inspect the banknotes in circulation.

The British Court of Accounts, which took action after the issue, prepared a report, stating that the £ 50 billion in question constitutes a very small part of the trillions of pounds put into the markets by printing or digital transfer in the domestic market, and said that the money in question could be at home or abroad.

The Public Finance Commission, on the other hand, wants the Central Bank to determine where and by whom, for what purpose, 50 billion pounds of which are not clear.

Against these accusations, the Central Bank says that the British prefer to save and accumulate in this period because of the corona virus is ‘under the pillow’ rather than banks, and that people are holding more money in their homes than usual and the amount of banknotes in circulation may have increased for this reason.

The spokesperson of the Central Bank stated that the primary responsibility of the bank is ‘to meet the banknote needs of the public’ and said, “People do not have to explain to the Bank why they are holding money. For this reason, these banknotes are not lost.”
