Archaeologists in Peru have discovered a 2,000-year-old cat sketch on a hillside. Archaeologists caring for the historical site during the coronavirus pandemic came across a 37-meter-long cat figure.

The Peruvian Ministry of Culture stated that feline figures are frequently seen in ceramic and textile iconography. Most of the figures found in Nazca are known as giant figures that can only be detected when looking from the sky, as they are barely visible at ground level. Most of the ancient figures found in the region were discovered by photographs taken from space.
Jhony Islas, director of the Ministry of Culture’s Nazca-Palpa management plan, said there are even more designs to be discovered.
“One of the things that continues to surprise us is that there are more and more undiscovered figures and we will continue to explore them,” Islas said. Director Islas said, “In recent years, aerial imaging has improved a lot with the use of modern technology. We can now shoot at very low altitude with drones, and this helps us a lot in our exploration.”
