ANA one of Japan’s largest airlines goes to shrink its fleet

ANA, one of Japan’s largest airlines, will reduce the use of large and large aircraft in its fleet by 50 percent in the fiscal year 2021, which will start in April.

Tokyo

All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced that it aims to reduce local operating costs in the face of the impact of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak on the airline industry.

In this context, ANA will suspend some of its local flights, including Narita in the east of the capital Tokyo and the airports in Osaka, one of the country’s commercial centers.

Compared to the local flight plan announced in January 2020, ANA will reduce the use of large and large aircraft in its fleet by 50 percent in the new year and increase the use of small aircraft by 30 percent.

The company, which will review the flight schedule on a monthly basis according to the airline flight demand, aims to decrease its service capacity by 15 percent in terms of seat-kilometer compared to the current fiscal year.

On the other hand, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced that it will increase the number of flights on routes that will see a faster recovery in the fiscal year 2021.
