Adidas prepares to sell Reebok

German sports manufacturer Adidas is considering selling the Reebok, which it acquired in 2006. The sale is aimed to be made until March 2021.

German clothing brand Adidas, Reebok acquired in 2006 for 3.8 billion euros, sell Reebok’s value dropped to 842 million euros.

Over the course of the pandemic, Adidas’ revenue fell 33% in the second quarter, while Reebok’s revenue declined by 42% to € 228 million. Although Adidas has not yet determined a price for a possible sale, according to the news in the German media. US clothing company VF Corp, which includes Timberland and The North Face. Finland-based Amer Group, which owns Wilson and Salomon brands, and Chinese Anta Sports Products, are among those who aspire to Reebok.

If Adidas Chief Executive Officer Kasper Rørsted decided to sell Reebok before the pandemic. It would earn an income close to 2 billion euros. With the depreciation of Reebok, the sales price will be below 2 billion euros.

Adidas investors have been pressuring Adidas to divest Reebok for “inefficiency”.
