Jeff Bezos: natural disasters will not have a place in the civilization we will establish in space

New details about the civilization that Amazon CEO and richest person in the world Jeff Bezos wanted to establish in space emerged at a private meeting in Washington, the US capital. The 56-year-old entrepreneur stated that the climatic conditions will always be ideal in space colonies that can sustain themselves and that natural disasters will not be seen, and that the solar system will host trillions of people. However, Bezos said that the main purpose of space civilization is to preserve life on Earth.

New details have emerged about the goals of Blue Origin, which was founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon and the richest person in the world with a fortune of approximately $ 190 billion, and which develops technologies that make it possible to travel personally with less cost. The billionaire entrepreneur announced that he will establish a civilization in space in the future at the meeting held in Washington, the capital of the USA, and only those with an invitation can attend.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, one of the invitees explained that Bezos will create large cities, national parks and agricultural areas in a self-sustaining space civilization.

Stating that he was influenced by the futuristic views of his physicist Gerard O’Neill, who was an electrical and computer science engineering student at Princeton University at the time, Bezos said that civilization in space would be an easy escape option when the resources on the world began to run out, but that his main purpose was to protect the home of humanity Earth.

However, while the photos shared by Blue Origin about the concept are heralding that the 2014 Hollywood film Interstellar could become a reality, Bezos announced that the new civilization they will build will be very close to Earth and millions of people will frequently travel to the earth every day.

Another detail that stands out in space civilization is that its climate is always at ideal values. Accordingly, thanks to the super technology used, natural phenomena such as earthquakes, storms, and rain will not be seen here. “Think of the island of Maui in Hawaii. The weather will be like that all year round, ”said Bezos, explaining that humanity could one day travel all over the solar system:

“If we can reach every part of the solar system, humanity’s population will exceed one trillion. This means we will have thousands of Mozart and thousands of Einsteins. Imagine what an incredible civilization we can have. ”

The concept of civilization in space was first introduced by Bezos’ university professor O’Neill in the 1970s. The center of thought is that habitats can rotate in space, creating an artificial gravity based on centrifugal force.

Bezos said that Blue Origin is progressing in its work to implement the concept O’Neill seeded, but he does not expect space colonies to be established in the near future. Bezos said, “The grandchildren of our grandchildren can see this unique civilization.”
