UAE to open embassy in Tel Aviv

Agreements on “normalization of relations” were signed between Israel and the UAE at an official ceremony held at the White House on 15 September 2020.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that it will open its Israeli embassy in Tel Aviv.

The UAE cabinet met at the National Palace in Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice President and Emir of Dubai, according to the news in the UAE official agency WAM.

While it was stated that the government decided to build the Israeli embassy in Tel Aviv, no details were shared regarding the construction process and when the embassy would become operational.

Following the normalization between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv, it has been a matter of debate whether the UAE will open its Israeli embassy in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
